Shiseido cosmetics from Dillard’s did the make-up for the models, as well as doing a brief presentation at the luncheon on make-up tips. Members and guests dined on a delectable luncheon at this first annual fashion show held at the stunning Venetian Bay Golf clubhouse.
Denyse Meyers, Membership/Social Director, was the M.C. for the event and club members were the models. They are as follows: Sandy Bayer, Corie Sciara, Tonya Gandy, Elaine Powell, Amy Ingram, Ashley Piotrowski, Susan Piotrowski, Sharon Delgrande, Bonnie Gauger and Kim Towe.
A raffle was held and the prizes were donated from Yum Yum Cafe, Dillard’s, Jana Lanier advisor for Lia Sophia Jewelry, Salon by Zeta’s, and Discovery Travel. A special thanks to Mark Steighner for the photography and lighting.
We are anxiously looking forward to the next fashion show event.

Thomas A. Edison Makes an Appearance at Venetian Bay

On Saturday August 30th, famous inventor, Thomas Alva Edison, paid a visit to our area when he dropped in at Venetian Bay for an informal presentation.
Since he was six years old, writer, actor and entrepreneur, Frank Attwood has been intrigued and inspired by Edison’s life and accomplishments. Over the last several years, Attwood has performed around the country in front of audiences of all ages taking on the persona of Thomas Edison. Attwood’s desire is to not just convey a story of a great inventor, but to bring out the character of the man… things that you may not have learned about him in school. For you see, Thomas Edison was not only a man of genius, but also a man of wit, playfulness, endless curiosity and a he had a VERY vivid imagination. It is difficult to imagine the modern world without the contributions of Thomas Edison. Henry Ford once said: “To find a person who has not directly benefited from the accomplishments of Thomas Edison, it would be necessary to go deep into the jungle. ”
His inventions, which include the electric light, and number over 1,000, coupled with his dynamic business approach, gave rise to three major industries: the recording industry, the motion picture Industry, and the electric utilities industry.
Mr. Attwood’s visit, as Thomas Edison, was highly entertaining as well as instructive.
