On Saturday August 30th, famous inventor, Thomas Alva Edison, paid a visit to our area when he dropped in at Venetian Bay for an informal presentation.
Since he was six years old, writer, actor and entrepreneur, Frank Attwood has been intrigued and inspired by Edison’s life and accomplishments. Over the last several years, Attwood has performed around the country in front of audiences of all ages taking on the persona of Thomas Edison. Attwood’s desire is to not just convey a story of a great inventor, but to bring out the character of the man… things that you may not have learned about him in school. For you see, Thomas Edison was not only a man of genius, but also a man of wit, playfulness, endless curiosity and a he had a VERY vivid imagination. It is difficult to imagine the modern world without the contributions of Thomas Edison. Henry Ford once said: “To find a person who has not directly benefited from the accomplishments of Thomas Edison, it would be necessary to go deep into the jungle. ”
His inventions, which include the electric light, and number over 1,000, coupled with his dynamic business approach, gave rise to three major industries: the recording industry, the motion picture Industry, and the electric utilities industry.
Mr. Attwood’s visit, as Thomas Edison, was highly entertaining as well as instructive.
